Fix You

I know a lot of people like to hate Coldplay. I have heard they called "U2 Lite" more times than I can count.
No matter, I happen to like them quite a bit.

Anyway, I was looking for some nice soothing music after a somewhat emotional day and I settled on this. I forgot how beautiful it is and how comforting the lyrics are. I heard that Chris Martin wrote this for his lovely wife Gwyneth Paltrow. How wonderful to inspire these kind of feelings in someone:

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
when you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I

Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Happy Memorial Day everyone. See you next week!

People who hate Coldplay simply think they are much more hip than they really are.

In what could be called an ironic twist, I look down my nose at those who would dare to call Coldplay anything other than a great band.

This song makes me happy. Especially the bridge and chorus. I play air guitar and belt out the words at the top of my lungs.

Brent captured my thoughts perfectly! Even if they are "U2 light", I happen to love U2, as well. So why wouldn't I like the light version. Plus, Chris Martin's voice is amazing!

Brent nailed it. I like Coldplay. The one time I saw them live at a concert I was impressed. They were 2nd to Foo Fighters, and I was really impressed with Chris Martin as a front man--Oh, I don't listen to their stuff that much, but I'm not a hater.

Bravo, Brent!

I used to *really* like them, until I discovered Jeremy Piven's ringtone was "Speed of Sound". And if you've ever read my thoughts about the Piv (or more appropriately named the Pivert), that man left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Then again, that WAS in 2005, so I can go back to listening to them again and not have night terrors, right??

Ah, well, I feel really snarky dishing the details, but he could never deny this is true...

I think you already know that I used to wax his back every month. He would come in and expect me to cram him into my already full schedule. He insisted it would take fifteen minutes, but it always took an hour. Minimum. The owner always jumped to accommodate him, moving clients that I LIKED over to someone else. And even still, he was incredibly rude to me.

Anyway, he's well-known for being quite the philanderer... and I always heard complaints from the Pepperdine girls (I did many a bikini wax) about how he was always trying to pick them up. Obviously he was quite successful; he had a different YOUNG girl with him every time I brought him back into the spa.

That song is like a long, tight hug from someone you really really like.

well i've always thought he seemed like kind of a tool.

someone should tell that guy that unless he was an actor, no woman would look at him twice.
