Real Simple

I read a magazine article once about how to turn mundane daily tasks into enjoyable experiences. One of the examples was ironing. To take your shoes off, open the window, turn on some music, and take advantage of time to yourself. I tried it once and I was hooked. It made something I dread something I could actually look forward to.

Well, I have always loved to take showers and I don't consider them tedious at all but I do love opportunities to add a little spice to them. So I was delighted when I checked into my hotel in San Francisco last week and found a pretty good sized window in the shower.
It was only four in the afternoon but I turned on the water as hot as I could stand, opened the window, and stood under the water for about 30 minutes. It was so fun to look out at the city and to feel the breeze blowing in.

I did get a little nervous that maybe someone in this building across the way could see in. I suppose if someone over there was so bored and sad that they were scanning our building for a glimpse of a far away showering hotel guest, maybe they sort of deserved to get it!

I love to iron while listening to conference talks. Random, but true. It's kind of a little ritual I have, when I get around to ironing. So, do you ever get sick of traveling? Because right now, I want your life, but maybe it gets old?

work travel is probably something i could write a whole book about at this point...after five years on the road I feel like i have a lot to say.

i am 50/50 on how i feel about it. I love being in a different city, i love seeing different things, i love that it gets me out of the monotony of day after day in the office, i love that i often get to see friends when i travel. But I am gone enough that it does indeed get old. Airports are no fun at all these days, it's hard to maintain any normal workout, sleeping or eating habits, and I miss things at home that I don't want to miss.

There are plenty of perks though and I'd say that if you ever get the chance to do it for a years, go for it.

I used to iron and watch Smallville or The OC with no sound so I could talk on the phone and catch up with friends. The people on the WB are pretty enough so I don't even care what they're saying.
As for naked showering nude in public...You exhibitionist.
